Soil moisture did not differ significantly between treatment types (Fig 12). There was a significant difference between months due to some seasonal variation, as can be seen in the increase in soil moisture for all treatment types in June then a decrease in August. It was surprising that there was no significant difference between treatments since the Salvage logged stands and 100% kill sites now have less or no interception from the canopy so more moisture should be contacting the ground. Since there are no longer many living trees taking up any moisture in these areas, that should result in increased moisture content in the soil as well.
